Mendocino County Judges Election Primary March 7, 2000

Update: Henderson and Combest won in the primary, this page will be updated with information about all the county judges soon.

Judge Superior Court Department 4 -- Ukiah and West to the Coast

It is hard to find information that distinguishes these two candidates, both are receiving support from people who have a track record of opposition to the issues "knowthecandidates" uses to evaluate candidates.

Jackson is being supported by people in active opposition to environmental protection like Heather Drum and Dominic Affinito. She also has the support of moderately environmental people like Geraldine Rose.

Henderson is being supported by Marilyn Butcher who as a former Supervisor was generally hostile to the environment and animal protection. He is also supported by Seiji Sugawara who was moderately friendly to environmental and animal protection.

Judge Superior Court Department 5 -- North Ukiah and east to Covelo

Combest is considered a conservative judge, who in the past was very much a member of the status quo of conservative judges. It is reported that he has been more open minded and objective in recent years.

McDonald is running a low profile, reform-oriented campaign. He accepts no contributions because he feels judges must be totally independent of any monetary influence, which is a noble stance we support. Wish we could find out more about his views on this site's other issues.
